How Decision Readiness works.

The score measures preparation, not clinical suitability or treatment effectiveness.

Four readiness domains

Health information

Health MOT, BMI, comorbidities, BP and relevant metabolic information.

Knowledge

Self-rated understanding of medication, surgery, NHS and lifestyle routes.

Practical planning

Cost, access, waiting tolerance, route preferences and whether a clinician has been involved.

Maintenance planning

Whether the user has built a roadmap, tracked progress and thought beyond initial weight loss.

What 80/100 does not mean

It does not mean 80% likelihood of success, 80% medical suitability or 80% certainty that the top-ranked route is correct. It means the decision preparation is relatively complete according to the information collected.

Why this matters

A person can have a highly relevant medication route but low decision readiness because they have not checked blood pressure, do not understand side effects and have not considered long-term cost or maintenance.

Local storage

This release creates sstDecisionReadiness and reuses the existing Health MOT, Progress Centre, Treatment Finder and Personal Roadmap local data.

Preparation is not permission.

The point is to improve shared decision-making, not replace it.
