Commercial principles

Making money should never decide what treatment we tell you is best.

Shift Some Timber is being built as a commercial platform. Pretending otherwise would be daft. The important question is how commercial incentives are handled.

Evidence before revenue

Commercial value does not override licensed indications, NICE guidance, safety information or the quality of evidence.

No margin-led recommendations

We will not rank or recommend a treatment because one option produces more revenue than another.

Commercial relationships declared

Relevant pharmacy, provider, affiliate or commercial relationships should be clearly disclosed.

Editorial independence

Sponsored or commercial relationships must not quietly rewrite independent treatment-comparison content.

Uncertainty stays visible

If evidence is limited, emerging or contradictory, we say so rather than polishing uncertainty into a sales claim.

NHS remains a legitimate option

Commercial readiness does not mean pretending private treatment is the only sensible route.

No fake urgency

No invented scarcity, fake countdown timers or “last chance” treatment pressure.

No testimonials before they exist

Member stories and reviews will only be shown when they are genuine and appropriately consented.

Conflicts of interest

If Shift Some Timber, an associated company or a partner benefits financially when someone chooses a product or service, that relationship should be capable of being understood by the user. A conflict does not automatically make information wrong; hiding the conflict makes trust much harder.

Separation of information and care

The free knowledge platform should remain useful even to someone who never becomes a member. Commercial programme pages can explain services, but evidence pages should not be converted into disguised adverts.

The Shift Promise

  • We'll explain the evidence honestly.
  • We'll tell you when the evidence is uncertain.
  • We won't recommend a treatment because it earns more.
  • We'll help you make your own informed decision.
  • We'll respect that every person's journey is different.
