Don't assume somebody else will deal with it
If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 999 or go to A&E. If you need urgent mental-health help but it is not an emergency, in England call NHS 111 and select the mental-health option or use NHS 111 online where appropriate.
A worrying post, message or story can leave you wondering whether you are overreacting.
Contact them directly
If you know the person, message or call and ask how they are. If suicide is a concern, ask directly.
Use platform safety tools where appropriate
Major platforms have routes for reporting content suggesting self-harm or suicide. These are additional tools, not replacements for contacting emergency services when you know there is immediate danger.
If you know where they are and life is at risk
Contact emergency services and provide the information you have.
