Feeling numb or disconnected
If you or someone else is in danger, call 999 or go to A&E. If you need urgent mental-health help but it is not an emergency, use NHS 111 online or call 111 and select the mental-health option.
Not everyone who is struggling feels obviously sad. Sometimes the problem is that you don't feel much of anything.
What people mean by numb
You might feel detached from people, uninterested in things you used to care about, emotionally flat or as though you're watching life rather than properly participating in it. There are many possible reasons, so avoid diagnosing yourself from a webpage.
Reconnect gently
Try contact before motivation: answer one message, sit with family rather than disappearing upstairs, take a short walk with somebody, or do one familiar activity even if enthusiasm hasn't arrived first.
Don't ignore persistent change
Loss of interest or pleasure can be associated with depression. If this is persistent, worsening or affecting your functioning, speak to your GP or another appropriate professional.
