SHIFT Newsroom

Clinical governance

Clear responsibility. No borrowed authority.

Shift is an information, decision-support and member platform. Regulated diagnosis, prescribing, dispensing and clinical monitoring remain the responsibility of the appropriately regulated healthcare provider.

EVIDENCE

Sources readers can inspect

Material health claims link to regulators, approved product information, NHS/NICE guidance or primary research. Matt O’Brien is identified as writer and researcher.

REGULATED CARE

Provider responsibility

Diagnosis, prescribing, dispensing and clinical monitoring belong to the appropriately regulated provider. Shift does not claim those functions.

High-scrutiny content

Medicines, surgery, mental health and other higher-risk health topics require authoritative sourcing, clear UK status, safety context, dated verification and an auditable correction process.

Decision-support boundary

Shift can organise information, compare trade-offs, surface questions and suggest routes worth investigating. It does not diagnose disease, determine individual prescribing suitability or override professional clinical judgement.

Scores and recommendations

Shift scores are product/decision-support outputs, not validated clinical risk scores or probabilities of treatment success. They should help structure the next question, not masquerade as a diagnosis.

Data and safeguarding

Health-data processing follows the separate privacy/DPIA governance model. Any regulated partner pathway must also define clinical escalation, safeguarding, complaints, adverse-event handling and continuity responsibilities before that provider's service is presented as a clinical route.
