A different doorway to support
SAMH’s Aberdeen Nook opened in Marischal Square in June 2026, following the Glasgow service in Merchant City. The charity describes free, non-clinical support, with both locations open seven days a week and no referral or appointment needed to walk in.
The offer includes a conversation with a practitioner, alongside activities and other support. Non-clinical means it should not be confused with a hospital, an emergency mental-health assessment or a prescribing clinic.
Check the local details before travelling
The launch announcement and current network page serve different purposes. A launch records what opened; the location page is the place to check hours and arrangements before a journey. Planned future locations should not be treated as already open.
If approaching a service feels difficult, our suggestion is to ask a small first question: can I come in just to find out how this works? You can also check accessibility, privacy, whether someone can accompany you and whether a particular activity requires booking.
What the early demand tells us
Visitor numbers can show that a service is being used. They do not establish clinical effectiveness or mean every visitor has recovered. For a walk-in service, useful measures also include whether people felt heard and could find the right next step.
This is one story about the growing Nook network, rather than separate pages repeating each opening. It gives Scottish readers a concrete support option while keeping SAMH’s charitable service distinct from NHS clinical care. For an emergency, use the appropriate urgent-care route.
