Wales gambling support: what the new NHS service was set up to do

The planned service
The Welsh Government announced a specialist NHS gambling-treatment service and helpline scheduled to launch on 1 April 2026. Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board was awarded annual funding to run it for Wales.
The announcement describes information and support for people experiencing gambling harms and for others affected, including family members. Treatment was designed to be accessible remotely through a secure platform, with assessment, referral and aftercare.
A national announcement is not a local appointment
